Chopping down trees or deforestation (to the left) is bad because it ruins many animal habitats. If all the trees were chopped down all those animals would die because they live their lives in the trees.
The other picture (above) is pollution. It is almost the same thing as deforestation because the trees would all die of the pollution and the animals will eventually die out. It also can harm the water supply.
